| construct a new jail facility. Liberty County is a small rural county with little tax base. The county is requesting the intervention of the State to help provide funding to construct a new jail. |

| Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
| To provide more modern facilities to house county inmates in Liberty County. Current building was built in the 1940's and is extremely inadequate in providing appropriate and secure facilities to incarerate inmates. The jail has a capacity to house 18, Over 40 are currently being detained in the facility. Some are being forced to sleep on the cell floors. The building is deteriorating rapidly. Patch repair on the facility is no longer sufficient or fiscally sound. |
