Project Description: | |||||||||
Sista to Sista is a mentoring program with an emphasis and focus on HIV/AIDS Prevention Education. The program seeks to prevent HIV/AIDS infection among African American adult women. Sista to Sista is a nationally evaluated program that was first implemented in 1993 and has been replicated in many cities around the country. HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of death among 25-44 year olds in Florida and the leading cause of death among black males and females in this age group.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The measurable outcome is to increase the knowledge of HIV high risk reduction behavior and to make an impact on the reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS in the African American community. Blacks comprise 14 percent of Florida's population, but account for 47 percent of the total AIDS cases in Florida. This program will help address the high number of HIV/AIDS cases and ultimately result in less African American females infected with HIV/AIDS. This program will also track and gather feedback from the hundreds of people the program will come in contact with.
