Project Description: |
The Upper Tampa Bay Library is currently funded for 15,000 square feet; construction will be completed in December 2004. It will be too small the day it opens. The current populace it will be supporting is 66,173 (with projected growth above 6%), per the updated 2000 Census obtained from the Hillsborough County-City Planning Commission. This populations does not include apartment dwellers, nor does it include the "spillover usage" from Pinellas and Pasco Counties. This additional populace is estimated to be 15,000 to 25,000 bringing the total population usage of this library to 82,000 to 91,000. This CBR provides the funds to build the needed additional 10,000 square feet. Funding this project now will save the taxpayers in the long run. When these additional funds are granted, construction will take place simultaneously saving approximately $400,000 taxpayer dollars. This information was provided by Hillsborough County Architectural and Planning personnel. |
