| This project will provide support for the implementation of the recommendations of a municipal stormwater master plan that is intended to produce measurable results in nearshore water quality. Pursuant to the FKNMS Water Quality Protection Program Document (1996), stormwater sources contribute about 21% of total wasterwater/stormwater nitrogen and 44% of total wastewater/stormwater phosphorus loadings to sanctuary waters. In 1999, the Florida Legislature acknowledged the impacts associated with stormwater discharge to nearshore communities in the Florida Keys. |
