Project Description: |
The mission of the Digital Divide Council is to promote that all Floridians have reasonable opportunities to access and training needed to develop the knowledge and skills required to use information technology. This project request is two-fold. One, for $350,000, is to provide the STO administrative and technical support for the Digital Divide Council as required in statute. This includes staff support and travel costs for members of the council to participate in meetings, as well as the continuation of the statewide digital divide technology clearinghouse. The second aspect of this request is for the continuation of funding of the 6 pilot programs as designated in FS 445.049. These pilot programs provide economic resources, training and access to at-risk members of our society that are without these critical tools. This request is for $100,000 for each of the six current pilot projects, as well as the funding of four additional pilot projects at $100,000 each. The additional $350,000 will be to increase Broadband access in low income |
