| Statewide Interest: |
| Property is the site of a former coal gasification plant and has been the subject of a federal Administrative Order on Concent through the US EPA. The property is located adjacent to the Capital, within the Southern Strategy boundaries. Not only is it currently unusable for citizens and visitors to the community, it also is a significant impediment to economic development in the area. Enhancements to the Cascades Park area are planned, funded by local option sales tax revenues approved by the community in 2000, but these improvements cannot be implemented until the site is remediated. This project represents a significant economic develoment opportunity that will stimulate neede development in this area of the community. |
