Statewide Interest:
It will provide assistance in the form of reading skills to low income and underserved students in order to help them pass the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). The FCATs are a part of Florida's effort to improve the teaching and learning of higher educational standards. Read to Succeed would address one of the primary purposes of the FCAT, by assisting students with the Reading and Writing portions of the exam.

Project Description:
This project addresses the needs of the participants by assisting and enhancing children's reading and writing skills. The organization will have the ability to serve as an educational resource for students that lack necessary resources or have unmet, specific needs related to reading and writing. Ultimately, the goal of the organization is to serve as a literary resource for funds, supplies, trained tutors, and educators for the community.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Read to Succeed will recruit a minimum of 10 teachers, 20 volunteers and 50 residents, which will provide reading support. Read to Succeed will offer 50 tutoring sessions and 2 reading and writing competitions. Additionally, Read to Succeed will offer 18 Saturday morning tutoring sessions located at 2460 SW 137 Avenue, Suite 254, Miami, Florida 33175. A minimum of 40 students will be enrolled in the Saturday program.
