Pogram is open to all females and will target predominately minority female groups( African American, Hispanic, Haitian, Jamaican, American Indian, Asian, Pacific Islander) to help reduce the number of females entering the juvenile justice system, thus creating a cost- avoidance to the Florida Treasury as an alternative to more expensive delinquency placement settings.

Project Description:
The establishment of two (2) Minority Female Delinquency Prevention Programs in high crime neighborhoods will serve as front line prevention of juvenile offenses committed by females. Program will provide girls, ages 12-17, with group work to deal with gender specific issues, skills to prepare them to live independently, promote character development, teach like skills and job readiness skills. The program will interface with the County School System, and will accept referrals from state agencies, community based organizations, faith based organizations and local programs.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Program will serve 150 girls over two counties with goal of reducing minority girls entering the juvenile justice system while increasing their independent living skills and decision making skills. Program will input statistical data into the Florida Juvenile Justice Information System to dtermine program outcomes/success rate.
