Project Description:
Project AIM (Alcohol Impairment Measure) will be a collaboration between the Sarasota Coalition on Substance Abuse and the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. The coalition and sheriff's office will develop curricula directly focused on assisting restaurant servers and lounge staff to identify obvious signs of impairment of patrons. These new identification tools will result in better communication between the server and the patron, and result in fewer DUI arrests and accidents, due to patrons making better decisions prior to driving. Servers will be trained using the same techniques as law enforcement DUI recognition experts. Training will take place year round, in multiple county locations. Off-duty sheriff's deputies will provide the training.
