Parenting Wisely - Prevention Choices - Assessment and Treatment Parenting Wisely is an evidenced-based program that improves parenting skills for at-risk youth and is a prevention program for families. Should further intervention be needed, Choices, a second tier, includes screening and assessment of the youth and placement into an evidenced-based outpatient treatment program called CART, Creating a Responsible Thinker. Both parents and children participate and treatment addresses youth who are using drugs or even involved with Juvenile Drug Court. These two programs address youth and their parents.

Project Description:
These two programs for youth and their parents include Prevention and Outpatient Treatment services in collaboration with Brandon area schools, community, and courts.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
1) 72% of the youth who participate in the CART program will successfully complete. 2) 35% to 58% reduction in child behavior problems at school and home. 3) 75% improvement in general family functioning. 4) 38% increase in parent participation in Parent Education classes. 5) Fewer referrals to Alternative Schools and Juvenile Justice programs. 6) Improved school performance and FCAT scores. 7) Parental piece of mind regarding juvenile drug use.
