Statewide Interest: |
This is a new segment to provide interconnectivity between SIS, Regional Significant Facilities, and the Interstate System. This new system will provide an alternative north-south route and discourage traffic traversing the interstate system to the east with the intent to travel north or southwest. This project will allow the present capacity improvements to I-10 and I-110 exceed the Level of Service Expectations. This Project offers great benefit to Hurricane evacuation for the Southwest and Northwest portions of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.
This project will complement the existing Beltway request by:
a. Providing a easterly north south commute for Santa Rosa County connecting to Highway 90
b. Providing a high speed evacuation route to I-65 for the east portion of Escambia County, City of Pensacola, and the east barrier island (Pensacola Beach)
c. Reduce Congestion to I-10, Davis Highway, Highway 90, and US 29 (SIS and Regional Systems)
d. Allow the existing improvements on I-10 and I-110 to exceed the expected LOS time lines
