Project Title: Beltway Corridor Feasibility Study (Escambia) Date Submitted 1/11/2006 2:08:21 PM

Sponsors: Peaden

Statewide Interest:
This Beltway is part of a regional significant master plan approved by the Local and Regional TPO to connect Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties reducing congestion to I-10 (SR 8). This is a new segment to provide interconnectivity between SIS, Regional Significant Facilities, and the Interstate System. This new system will provide an alternative north-south route and discourage traffic traversing the interstate system to the east with the intent to travel north or southwest. This project will allow the present capacity improvements to I-10 and I-110 exceed the Level of Service Expectations. This Project offer great benefit to Hurricane evacuation for the Southwest and Northwest portions of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.

Project Description:
The corridor is a proposed new connection between Beulah Road (CR 99) and the area of Quintette Road (CR 184) at Highway 29 (US 29), Barrineau Park Road (CR 196), and Muscogee Road (CR 184). Will intersect three major connectors within the northwest area supplying alternative routes for mobility and evacuation if needed. This project will continue to support alternative hurricane routes for goods and services and evacuation as well. Adding a new interchange to I-10 as part of the project will reduce trip length, congestion, and increase capacity on I-10 east of the Alabama State Line and Highway 29.
