Project Description:
The purpose of this project is to install reclaimed water service lines and meter boxes at residences in the City which have the reclaimed water mains available to their properties, but are not connected. The following figure shows those parcels with reclaimed water available, and whether or not connected. At present, the City has approximately 1,350 residential reclaimed water customers, who utilize this alternative supply rather than the potable water resource for irrigation purposes. By installing the proposed service lines and meter boxes, the number of residences connected to the reclaimed water system could be doubled. This would result in an estimated 400-500,000 gallons per day of reclaimed water being reused and an approximately equal quantity of potable water being conserved. These installations will facilitate the residences having access to the reclaimed water resource, as an alternative supply for irrigation purposes, rather than continuing to utilize the potable water for same. This project will also facilitate the proposed mandatory connection to the reclaimed water system.

Is this a project related to a federal or state declared disaster? No

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The final outcome of this project would be the reuse of approximately 400,000-500,000 gallons/day on an annual average daily flow basis of reclaimed water for residential irrigation purposes. A like reduction in water withdrawn from the Floridan Aquifer by the City would also result upon completion, and potable water demand would be reduced.
