Access to Care Initiative

Requester: Shirley Holland Organization: Halifax Behavioral Services

Project Title: Access to Care Initiative Date Submitted 1/6/2006 3:31:09 PM

Sponsors: Lynn

Statewide Interest:
Lack of access to mental health counseling services is a problem faced by Floridians who work, but whose income is too low, and whose insurance, if any, does not cover mental health services. People with situational depression, parents whose mental health issues have led to removal of a child from their home, persons who compound their mental health issues with substance abuse - all are at risk for higher cost services, job loss, addiction and suicide. The Access to Care Initiative addresses this Statewide interest for persons in Volusia and Flagler Counties.
