Project Description: |
Lauderdale Lakes Alzheimer Care Center (LLACC) has an excellent reputation for its In-Facility Respite Care Program. The existing program needs to be expanded to serve a growing population of elderly persons with strong urges of dementia in the State of Florida. The requested funding will be used to partner with community churches and faith-based institutions in order to provide expanded Alzheimer Care Services and Programs in South Florida, more specifically the Broward County area. Funding would permit the City's Alzheimer Care Center to increase the number of clients served, to increase the number of service days to include weekend In-Facility Respite Care, to increase the amount of outreach and education and to expand the services of the Lauderdale Lakes Alzheimer Caregiver Support Group. Additional funding will also be requested from private individuals and organizations and from a range of Medicaid funded provider programs, including some private sector agencies, as needed. |

Is this a project related to a federal or state declared disaster? |
No |
|
Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
LLACC has an excellent reputation for its In-Facility Respite Care Program. There is an increasing demand to get into the program that exceeds available funding. Measurable outcomes would include: increasing the quality and quantity of services provided to Alzheimer Care clients and families. Perhaps the most important measurable outcome is the financial savings that will be realized by the State Medicaid Program because Alzheimer clients would be served through a more cost effective community based program as opposed to the traditional institutionalization based program paid by the State. |
