Project Description:
Develop family preservation and support program for parents involved in the criminal justice system and their children. Specific targe population are parents being released from correctional facilities and reuniting them with their children. Many prisoners lack the skills and training to effectively fufill their parental responsibilities. The children often become the responsibility of the state through the Department of Children and Families. The children are at the highest risk for involvement in the criminal justice system. Services include parenting education and counseling for children and parents, facilitation of a plan for reintegration into the family for inmates being discharged.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
1)To prevent children and adolescents of parents involved in the criminal justice system from becoming involved in the criminal justice system themselves; 2)To provide parents involved with the criminal justice system with skills to effectively assume parenting responsibilities for their children who are in state custody; 3)Effective family intervention services with the goal of reunification of the family
