| Project Description: |
| The project is the Broward County Beach Erosion Control Project, a.k.a. The Broward County Shore Protection Project or the Broward County Beach Nourishment Project. This project will place approximately 2.5 million cubic yards of sand on about 11.8 miles of beach. Also included is construction of a spur on the south jetty of Port Everglades and two t-head groins at the north end of John U. Lloyd Beach State Recreation Area. The County has completed Segment III of the project (Port Everglades to south County line) and it is calculated that the proposed appropriation will be needed to round out the State's share of the costs, as well as provide funding for continuing engineering/design of the Segment II portion of the project (Hillsboro Inlet to Port Everglades). |
