Ventilation Improvements to the North Terminal Baggage Make-Up area

Requester: Robert Brancheau Organization: Greater Orlando Aviation Authority

Project Title: Ventilation Improvements to the North Terminal Baggage Make-Up area Date Submitted 1/13/2006 9:41:16 AM

Sponsors: Posey

Statewide Interest:
This is a mandated safety project. As the 4th largest origination and destination airport in the United States, Orlando International Airport (MCO) is responsible for the movement of over 33 million passengers per year. The tourism industry remains one of the largest economic contributors to the State of Florida. Although aviation travel declined initially following the events of 2001, the airport experienced to double digit growth in passengers traffic for seven consecutive months prior to the hurricanes that struck during hurricane season 2004. To date almost 50% of all visitors to Florida still travel by air. It is important for MCO to perform the required baggage transfer operations in a customer friendly and efficient manner that does not further burden a recovering aviation.
