Project Description:
Year 1: a. The Florida Alternative Energy Network is established with the statewide multi county network of our twelve member RC&D Councils as the bottom-up organizing principle. b. The Florida Energy Policy Act of 2005 is a focus to provide FL's fair share of funding. c. Develop protocols for statewide use for Inventory of Alternative Energy Resources. d. A Resource Inventory be completed for urban woody biomass by RC&D Council region with surveys at each municipal level. Data shared with network and Florida Department of Energy. Additional deliverables based on funds availability through additional grants or in kind dollars. d. The production of a model supply contract for solid renewable energy resourses providers and utilities under HB 77. e. Finish Business Plan for 3 MW wood fired demonstration facility in Union County. Organize supply coop for same. f. Establish an energy corps germplasm center in Polk County on reclaimed mine land with Mosaic Corporation cooperation where tall energy grass germplasm from the UFL/IFAS nurseries would be consolidated and increased for major projects throughout the state. g. Develop a coop business plan for conversion of waste oils to biodiesel. Year Two a. Resource inventory by RC&D Council region defined for: i. land-fill gas. ii. municipal sludge iii. new MSW streams iv. food waste (institional and household) v. dairy waste vi. available square footage for solar equipped roofs vii. The economic conversion to renewable energy in distributed pilot or commercial facilities is a part of each of the above.
