Spearheaded by a broad-based consortium of Brevard County investors and led by a 24-member Steering Committee, the community under went a rigorous six-month planning process that resulted in the development of the Brevard Tomorrow Strategic Plan that outlines the community's "preferred future" for Brevard County and focuses on five issue areas: Civic Infrastructure, Economy, and Education and Workforce, Governance and Land Use and Growth. Such a visioning and implementation effort will result in a healthier Florida community that will benefit not only Brevard County residents with a high quality of life but those visiting the area as well as companies who wish to expand or locate their business to Brevard.

Project Description:
Brevard Tomorrow: A Community Journey represents the confluence of values, goals, priorities and feelings that will describe the initiative and work of Brevard Tomorrow. Brevard Tomorrow is solely dedicated to helping Brevard County remain one of the best places to live, work, and visit today and into the future. Its purpose is to facilitate and/or coordinate activity in five broad areas to accomplish the goals set forth in the Brevard Tomorrow "Preferred Future" Plan, with the end goal of maintaining and improving the quality of life enjoyed by citizens in our community. The goal of Brevard Tomorrow is to move the community toward its stated "preferred future" over the next five to 10 years in these five primary issue areas: - Civic Infrastructure - increasing citizen involvement across all demographic and socioeconomic strata in the local community; - Economy - strengthening the overall economy in the County by making it more friendly and easy to navigate by businesses, capitalizing upon existing assets, and creating a competitive employment environment; - Education and Workforce - bolstering the existing educational and workforce development programs to make it a world class system that prepares students to either enter the workforce or pursue further education, and promotes an environment of life-long learning; - Governance: Cooperation, and Provision of Services - improving the responsiveness of local government to the needs of businesses and citizens alike through a greater level of intergovernmental collaboration and cooperation, and the development or enhancement of existing service programs in partnership with other social service and non-profit organizations; and - Land Use and Growth - developing a comprehensive understanding and agreement about land use, growth, and building aesthetics throughout the County.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Civic Infrastructure: Increased citizen involvement throughout the county. Developing the young professional business demographic sector. Economy: Establish a benchmark for measuring economic prosperity and employment diversity in Brevard County. In cooperation with Florida Institute of Technology, Brevard Tomorrow will develop an Economic Indicators Report for Brevard County, from which to benchmark and measure several components that are critical to the community's continued prosperity. Education and Workforce: Stronger education and workforce systems.
