Alzheimer's Family Organization is a Florida member of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, a local non-profit agency located in New Port Richey with other locations in surrounding counties. This organization, along with other Florida members of the AFA, will provide the necessary resources to provide screenings for detecting early symptoms of Alzheimer's and other dementia-related disorders to residents of Florida.

Project Description:
To support a statewide Memory Screening Initiative of free, confidential screenings in local communities to those concerned about memory problems with the goal of promoting early detection of Alzheimer's Disease and related illnesses. The project will involve: 1. Specific marketing to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and chronic disease prevention, and announce screening times and sites. 2. Sign up screening sites throughout the state to ensure that consumers will have convenient, easy access to screenings. 3. Distributing educational materials about dementia, successful aging and local rsources.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Screening of 2900 Floridians throughout the state who will be identified for potential risks for dementia, memory disorders, depression, pharmacy concerns, blood pressure, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Disease and provide results and recommendation to primary care physicians, with written permission, for follow-up.
