Project Description:
Dale Mabry Highway is a major urban roadway originally constructed to its current configuration to serve MacDill, AFB. Completed in 1962, it has grown to be a major hurricane evacuation route as well as a major thoroughfare for the regional economy. The roadway currently floods 2 to 5 times a year creating unsafe conditions for regional motorists and local residents who may need emergency services.

This section of Dale Mabry Highway today has an average daily trip count of 64,100 trips. Within the planning horizon, it will reach 95,800 trips daily. The regional economy that the flooding at this location impacts will be relieved from a common (2-5 times per year) to a 1 in 25-year occurrence.
