Project Description: |
Construction of a bank filtration system in Lake Okeechobee to deal with extreme turbidity issues for drinking water. Construction of this system will allow for primary potable water services during times of turbidity on Lake Okeechobee during and after strong storms or Hurricanes. |
|
Is this a project related to a federal or state declared disaster? |
No |
|
Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Allow continued delivery of potable water service even during times of extreme turbidity on Lake Okeechobee such as strong storms or hurricanes. Recent storms (three in a 13 month period) have disabled the entire service area water inoperable due to the extreme turbidity of the surface water source of Lake Okeechobee. The amount of sediment rendered the water untreatable. |
