Project Description:
The Northern Coastal Basin Initiative is an ongoing effort to protect and enhance the Guana, Matanzas, Tolomato, and Halifax rivers and their tributaries. An increased need for water quality improvements and the adverse effects of cumulative storm water on coastal water resources, particularly the shellfish harvesting areas, highlighted the need for a watershed-based project. Within this basin, is the Guana-Tolomato-Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve. Funding through this initiative will enhance water quality in all the basin rivers. Examples of subprojects that could be funded through this request follow. The list is in alphabetical order and is not a complete listing. Daytona Beach Regional Stormwater Management Network-Urban Redevelopment District Local Government Cooperative Stormwater Programs-Priority Watersheds North Peninsula Wastewater and Reuse-Phase 2 Palm Coast Stormwater Improvements Resource Assessment, Protection, and Restoration Initiative Rose Bay Watershed Restoration-Cambridge Canal Rose Bay Watershed Restoration-Dredging St. Johns County Regional Stormwater Park Shoreline Erosion Control, Habitat Stabilization, and Revegetation Along the Halifax River Watersheds
