This regional project has been considered significant to the FEMA Long Rand Recovery Plan that was established for Charlotte County. This Auditorium/Event Center will be the anchor of the City of Punta Gorda's rebuilding and recovery. This facility will serve the entire population of Charlotte COunty and will be used as a desitination for visitors and tourists to the County. |

Project Description: |
This project is located in the historical downtown of the City of Punta Gorda on the waterfront of the Peace RIver. The Charlotte COunty Auditorium was destroyed in Hurricane Charley on August 13, 2004. This facility has regional impact and had on the average of 285 usage days per year over the last four years of operation before it was torn down in 2005. The facility was used for banquets, expos, entertainment, youth activities, confrences, meetings, sporting events, community events, training and government functions. The economic, tourism and community impact of this large community and regional event center is significant to the City of Punta Gorda and Charlotte County. |
