On local and state levels the Haitian Museum will be a catalyst for economic growth and tourism in Florida. This will result in new economic activity and new tax revenues impacting every sector of the local and state economy. The arts raise the quality of life for the entire state. The Haitian Heritage Museum will contribute in providing these immediate benefits to the local area and state. By having the only known Haitian Heritage Museum, imediate benefits to the local economy will result from initial revenue generated for firms tha tprovide design, construction services, construction materialss, and employee wages/salaries from new jobs

Project Description:
The Haitian Heritage Museum is requesting funding to assist in hte developmental costs of this great project. The Museum is proposing to construct a 60,000 square foot structure that can accomodate the diversity of program offerings. The first and most prominent is the Museum exhibitionspaces which will host fine Haitian visual arts, exhibitions, and historic artifacts. Another program area that will facilitate community participaton is the Artist Loft component created so that local and international art students can engage in curriculum rich in Haitian art and culture. FInally, the structure wil feature a 200 seat theater where another dimension of Haiti's rich culture can be expressed thru teh medium of film and performing arts. With a projected construction duration of 2 years, procurment soft costs, and construction hard costs must be secured in order to succefully execute this project within hte scheduled period of time.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Providing a museum of this magnitude is unique to the context of hte local and regional community. The venue will link the community by drawing visitors on a national as well as international scale. Such tourism will have a positive economic impact that ultimatly contributes to thepositive growth and development of South Florida and Florida as a whole. The economic impact of arts and cultural organziations in South Florida totals nearly $400 million. Income created is almost $120 million. In South Florida more than 3,800 new jobs have been created through the arts. These results are clear and measurable.
