Statewide Interest: |
The project will extend central sewer service eliminating approximately 600 individual septic tanks currently contributing to the water quality degradation of the northeast region of the Choctawhatchee Bay. The Bay is a SWIM Priority waterbody in NWFWMD and it is on the 303(d) List of Impaired Waters per Clean Water Act. The project would also reduce adverse pollution conditions for the Choctawhatchee Bay shellfish harvesting area, specifically those areas of critical concern identified in the Annual Re-evaluation of Choctawhatchee Bay Shellfish Harvesting Area through June 2002, prepared by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Aquaculture. |
