Project Description:
Phase IV of teh Community Enhancement Project is currently in the design stage, consisting of the west island south of Kane Concourse. This area consists of approximately 11 of these isolated inlet systems that collect excess stormwater runoff and discharge it directly into Biscayne Bay at 11 pipe outfall locations. These drainage systems currently do not provide any water quality treatment. In order to provide stormwater quality treatment, it is anticipated that a drainage system similar to the system used in Phase I will be constructed. The improvements in Phase IV include reducing the total number of existing outfalls, interconnecting the multiple drainage systems using an average pipe diameter of 30", placing weirs and flap gate in the first drainage structure upstream to each outfall, and adding 4 stormwater injection wells to be fed by a single pump rated at 9,000 gallons per minute.
