Project Description:
During the hurricanes of 2004 most of the strand wire signals were damaged or destroyed. At thirty intersections involving major county roads and state arterial roads, a very dangerous situation was created when the Sheriff's Office attempted to direct traffic. The situation was exacerbated by the length of time it took to obtain material to restore the signals. This project would involve design and construction of mast arm signals at these critical intersections forming a hardened infrastructure to mitigate future events.
