Project Description:
The Town of Golden Beach Water Distribution system was installed over 80 years ago and has serviced the Town well for most of that time. However, over the past five years, the number of breaks and leaks in the system has brought the replacement of the system to the forefront of the Town's Capital Improvement Program. We have determined that the potential threat to the public's safety and welfare and continuous loss of water calls for the system replacement. Given the existing conditions, we have concluded that its replacement is in the best interest of the Town. The Town's previous method of repairing breaks is no longer feasible due to the reality that these repairs are temporary and lead to uncertainty as to when the next break- and with it the release of pollutants and water waste- is going to happen. The project calls for the excavation of existing water distribution system and replacement with a newly constructed system that will prevent pollution and focus on water conservation. This project will positively impact our water conservation efforts and cease loss of precious water. It has been brought to our attention that potential system failures and recent system breaks may cause a potential risk to the health and welfare of residents further our desire to address this matter immediately. The Town Council recently authorized the replacement of the Town's Water distribution system. This project is expected to cost $3 million dollars to replace the system; the Town has pledged $1.5 million dollars to achieve completion of this project.
