Project Description: |
This project will assess the condition of fish, birds and other wildlife resources on the site for purposes of determining the success of the restoration of the Picayune Strand Restoration Project, as well as provide information for a project adaptive management strategy. The Conservancy will provide information and recommendations to the RECOVER team, which is responsible for the ongoing evaluation of Everglades Restoration project.
Since restoration is being performed in stages, there is an excellent opportunity to employ adaptive management as this project moves forward, by adjusting restoration plans to enhance wildlife usage. Additionally, all of the data collected during this study will be able to quantify wading bird use in Picayune Strand State Forest restoration area, and provide valuable insight into foraging preferences and artificial pond dimensions that can be incorporated as hydrologic restoration continues. |
