Project Description:
Adopt neglected communities in South Dade that need revitalization and introduce healthily eating by distributing nutritious food. The Community Clean and Feed Projects focus is to identify neighborhoods within the city that have been neglected and clean them up. During the cleaning process we distribute nutritious food to those who are in need. This project serves a dual purpose. It helps clean up and revitalize communities by showing the residents that someone cares about their living conditions, while encouraging them to also take pride in their own community. It enables us to feed families which may not otherwise have nutritious food. Love South Dade has been providing this service, on a smaller scale, for approximately five years at least one time per year. We have also taken this time on occasions to hold job and health fairs to address any other needs the residents might have and it has been a great success. Our goal is to have this as an on going project perhaps on a monthly or by-monthly basis. When done on a larger scale we feel that this program can be instrumental in contributing to stronger and better communities. Our Future vision is to be able to: Have volunteers to help with cleaning up and distributing food within the communities. Have a larger food bank to provide food. To continue to conduct health and job fairs in order to address other social needs. Plant flowers and trees to beautify the neighborhood. Encourage whole communities to become active and interested in revitalizing their own neighborhoods.
