Project Description: |
The Reichert House program has been in existence since 1987 serving as an after school program designed for youth who have multiple risk factors and are in need of assistance in making the transition from adolescence to adulthood. The Reichert House program has a middle school and a seperate high school component that offers a combination of discipline, work, social and recreational activities to foster a balanced environment for those enrolled. There are 100 youth currently enrolled in the Reichert House program, ranging in age from 11 - 18 years. Reichert House recently completed an addition to their campus by constructing a High School Career and Academic Center. This building is 2,400 square feet and was designed to provide a facility for both academic and career training opportunities for the high school population. Also, there are plans to include a Multi-Purpose Center, which is the purpose of this funding request. However, due to fiscal constraints, this objective has not been reached. If adequate funding for this room were available, the Reichert House would like to use the Multi-Purpose Center to help create a Parent College. The Parent College will offer parents education, training and seminars while their youth are engaged in regular activities being offered at the Reichert House. Parents play an important role in their child's development and many parents are in need of additional skills that will assist them in managing their children. This proposal will provide space for parents of Reichert House youth and their siblings, to use this structure simultaneously. In addition, the Multi-Purpose Center will offer greater space for conducting seminars and similar opportunities for the youth currently enrolled in the program. The cost estimate for this project is $100 per square foot and the Multi-Purpose Center will be approximately 700 square feet. We anticipate this room will accomodate 50 people at one time. We have already purchased the land to accomodate this project. |
