Statewide Interest:
Providing opportunities for increased independence & self-sufficiency to adults with developmental disabilities and decreases the degree of dependency on state & federal monetary support. Dollars saved can be better utilized to serve those waiting to be served and provide yet another component to the workfoce needed in Polk County.

Project Description:
Acquisition of 8 acres of property & construction of a 40,000 sq.ft.facility for a day training program for adults with disabilities ages 22-84.Services and supports range from adult basic educatioin classes to vocational training and employment opportunities.Basic life and independent living skills as well as social and community integration skills are also provided on an individual and small group basis. This facility will allow us to serve an additional 50 individuals daily, many of which have been on a waiting list for over 5 years. This new facility will also allow us to increase our Contracts Production area, providing more training, more jobs and more community employment opportunities.

Increased capacity to serve by 50 individuals. Increased skill levels enabling adults with developmental disabilities to become more independent, become more self-sufficient and integrate at a higher level within the community academically sociall and vocationally.
