Statewide Interest:
Continues the Bio-reacotr demonstration project previously funded by DEP to save space at landfills throughout Florida, generate fuel and minimize valuable resources and land. Baker, Bradford and Union Counties formed the New Rivers Solid Waste Assn and jointly own a solid waste facility in Union County. In addition to processing waste from those counties, the facility also is host to Alachua and Levy counties. FDEP identified this regional facility as a full scale Bioreactor landfill project. Continued research will have state and national benefits.
