Project Description: |
The project is the Broward County, Segment II and III, Beach Erosion Control Project, a.k.a. The Broward County Shore Protection Project or the Broward County Beach Nourishment Project. This project will continue to address chronic beach erosion along the Countys beaches by placement of sand on selected shorelines and application of erosion control structures where appropriate. The County has completed an application of sand along Segment III of the project (Port Everglades to south County line) including the construction of three erosion control structures at John U Lloyd Beach State Park. The proposed appropriation is needed to continue engineering, design, and permitting of the Segment II nourishment, to continue post-construction monitoring of Segment III, to conduct a search for sand for future nourishments, and to conduct a study of the feasibility of the use of erosion control structures along appropriate stretches of Broward Countys shoreline. |
