Statewide Interest:
The project is regional in use due to the Pinellas County Automatic Aid agreement, in which all Fire Department Entities lend assistance to others, to reduce costs to the taxpayers while providing adequate fire and rescue protection. It will be an asset in the event of any natural disaster or homeland security event in our city, county, region, or state, as we are frequently called upon to make up elements of strike teams for statewide deployment

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The project will remove an ageing point of liability, and in turn replace with a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly piece of fire apparatus. This will provide a safe working arena for the firefighters, a continued level of protection for the citizens and their properties. Reduction of safety concerns for the fire and rescue personnel due to the age of the current piece is a critical motivator of this request.
