Florida Clubhouse Expansion Project

Requester: Elliott Steele Organization: Florida Clubhouse Coalition with Vincent House/Van Gogh's Palette, Inc.

Project Title: Florida Clubhouse Expansion Project Date Submitted 1/3/2008 9:29:17 AM

Sponsors: Jones

Statewide Interest:
International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) Model Clubhouses have statewide support from consunmers, families and DCF in its objective of "Recovery, Resiliency and Transformation". ICCD Clubhouses are considered state-of-the-art rehabilitation programs for persons in recovery from severe and persistent mental illneses. Research demonstrates that ICCD Clubhouses exceed the emplyment outcomes of nationally recognized rehabilitation programs. Likewise, Clubhouse participation leads to decreased hospitalization and incarceration rates, as well as an increased quality of life. The expansion of ICCD Clubhouses in Florida offers an effective, community-based approach to the rehabilitation of persons with psychiatric diabilities, ultimately promoting the reintegration of a marginalized and disenfranchised segment of our society.
