Project Description: |
At present, there are pre-teen and barely teen delinquent children who are repeatedly referred to the Miami-Dade Juvenile Assessment Center for minor violations. These children are failing in school (usually elementary school) and unless some intervention is done with the entire family, they will end up as youthful offenders, and often will be incarcerated at an early age. The requested funds will enable The Village to continue to provide an In-Home, On-Site program of therapy and intervention services for pre-teen and barely teen delinquent children and their families, impacting up to 200 families each year. The program will use a model of therapy that has been shown by the Department of Justice and the National Institute of Health to be highly effective to re-direct the lives of these young offenders. |
