This program will provide additional curriculum in support of the Interactive Technology Center at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. The Interactive Technology Center provides distance learning programming for middle and high school students throughout the State of Florida using web-based video and two-way audio classroom sessions. This program will introduce students to high technology using aviation as the main theme and relating the technology to basic math and science and engineering technology. Curriculum will facilitate both traditional classroom lecture where theory will be taught, and hands-on applications with flight simulation and lab work. The National Flight Academy will service the entire State of Florida by utilizing the latest technology and distance learning applications. The National Museum of Naval Aviation has partnered with Lockheed Martin to develop curriculum which will meet the Sunshine State Standards.

Project Description:
Project will provide for the second and third levels of mathematics and science curriculum for grades 9/10 and 11/12. The highly interactive and dynamic curriculum will be accessed via multiple methods including across the Internet, via a DVD, or downloaded from a stand-alone server. The curriculum can be utilized in the classroom facilitated by a teacher or self paced so the student can access away from the classroom. The curriculum will be developed to align with Sunshine State Standards for each applicable grade level and target the corresponding learning objectives for Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) preparation. All learning objects and media will be developed utilizing the training industry standard Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) 2004 processes to maximize content reuse for other State activities. The requested funding will provide development support for the second and third levels (9/10 and 11/12th grades) based from the first level foundation course (7/8th grade level) previously funded by the State in the fiscal year 2004-2005 budget.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Every student in grades 6 through 12 throughout t the State of Florida will have the opportunity to participate in the Distance Learning portion of the National Flight Academy. Students will be introduced to math, science and technology using aviation as the underlying, motivating theme.
