)? Immediate access for all Floridians to a poison specialist via a national 800 number for any type of poison question or concern. This 24-hour 7day operation prevents emergency room visits, saving lives and health care dollars. Poison prevention & education awareness in the community is also a major component of this program. Preparedness for biological attack and rumors of same. THIS REQUEST IS TO MAINTAIN CURRENT FUNDING LEVELS, NOT FOR AN INCREASE.

Project Description:
Maintain the existing funds for the 3 statewide poison centers in order to keep salary equity between Poison Specialist (SPI) and area nurses. Poison Specialists are the reason poison centers are so cost effective. To continue providing the highest quality of care by keeping trained specialist to answer the 24/7 1-800-222-1222. This number can assist in any poison emergency as well as questions about poisons or potential poisons.
