Project Description:
Apalachee Center proposes the expansion of our Detox facility from 12 beds to 20. This Marchman Act and voluntary Facility serves the eight county area encompassed by the 2nd Judicial Circuit as well as Madison and Taylor Counties, and is focused on short-term detoxification from substance abuse. Analysis of recent admission trends suggests that expanded bed space could serve to alleviate the current saturation of area Detox capacity.

Is this a project related to a federal or state declared disaster? No

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Florida citizens dealing with substance abuse will have a much greater level of access to intensive short-term, residential care which will measurably reduce the incidence of individuals without treatment in the community. This will, in turn, reduce incidences of ongoing crimes against persons and property related to substance use and abuse. In addition, greater levels of access include a lower incidence of substance-abusing individuals who may be involved with local law enforcement, and who tend to be disproportionate utilizers of law enforcement services.
