Project Description:
Gadsden County and the City of Gretna has received requests from the owners of commercial property at the State Highway 12 Interstate 10 intersection to expand to the area water and wastewater services to support commercial development of hotels, retail stores, and fuel stations. Owners of the property are prepared to execute development agreements with the County and the City upon both entities commitment to serve the area.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Gadsden County is a State of Florida declared County of Critical Economic Concern, and the proposed project is within Gadsden County's Enterprise Zone. Funding under this request will create jobs for individuals within the existing enterprise zone, will eliminate the use of individual water well, eliminate the use of commercial septic tanks, and create an economic boost to the region through tourism, sales tax revenue collected from the sale of goods and services. Without legislative funding this project is not possible due to limited financial resources of both the County and City. Elimination of all commercial septic tanks and their impact on the Florida Aquifer.
