Project Description:
This project is designed to introduce basic through advanced understanding of Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Economics statewide in K-12 schools throughout all 67 counties. The Council and its network of Economic Educational Centers maintain a direct relationship with tens of thousands of teachers statewide. We provide teachers, through our partnership with our Economic Educational Centers, advanced teacher training in the field of economics and we integrate these trainings across the board into various subjects including Math, Reading, Social Studies, Science, Drivers Education, and Athletics. The Council creates new programs and writes curricula, while also bringing together vendors, and community partners in an attempt to provide the best possible programs to our teachers and students. The Council is also able to provide classroom materials, workbooks, instructional aids, simulations, and other educational tools to the students at no charge. The Council provides on-line and phone support for teachers and students statewide. The Council conducts an annual statewide teaching excellence program recognizing the best teachers of our state in the fields of economics, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. All of the programs available are correlated with Sunshine State Standards and have been adapted to be applied in conjunction with preparation for the FCAT. This funding will make it possible to distribute, train, and integrate all of our programs on a statewide level. This funding will allow us to properly fund our Economic Education centers statewide in order to properly train our states teachers. This funding will allow the Council to continue to research and develop cutting edge programs, establish standards, and consolidate efforts by multiple parties statewide in order the ensure the future economic prosperity of our state and our children.
