To help the State of Florida with the preperation of additional nurses, this project will assist Florida Southern College in addressing the critical shortage of nurses in the State of Florida by supporting the first baccalaureate nursing program in Polk County.

Project Description:
Florida Southern College requests necessary funding to support its new four-year undergraduate nursing program, the only program of its type in Polk County, in addition to is RN-to-BSN and MS in Nursing degrees. The total cost to launch the undergraduate program is approximately $6 million. Since this program is ineligible to receive any funding from the SUCCEED Florida program until we graduate our first two classes from the program (2011), Florida Southern respectfully requests $1.5 million for program support for nursing instruction and laboratory equipment.
