Project Description:
Funding is currently available for a new clubhouse with additional meeting space for educational gun safety seminars including parking and five-stand sporting clay stations. This funding request is for a 300 Meter Long Distance Rifle Range. As a result of a broad and encompassing planning effort that included input from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, it was determined that there was a deficiency in certain shooting facilities in South Florida. Law enforcement agencies identified a critical need for a 300-meter Long Distance Rifle Range that would serve as a premiere training facility for specialized law enforcement and Homeland Security training that is otherwise unavailable here in South Florida. The Range would be composed of 25 firing points; target positions at 200 meters and at 300 meters; a rangemaster control building with storage and restrooms; and the interior range capacity for specialized training. In addition to law enforcement agencies, the Range could be used by local colleges and universities to provide their criminal justice students with a hands-on experience of this aspect of the criminal justice field.

Is this a project related to a federal or state declared disaster? No

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The addition of a 300-meter Long Distance Rifle Range would provide a facility with the necessary infrastructure to adapt to alternative training functions and to the additional utilization by other law enforcement agencies.
