Project Description:
This project includes the implementation of various sub-elements of the Citys Stormwater Drainage Master Plan, specifically: 1) The Fairlawn Storm Sewer Improvements Project consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by S.W. 8 Street, W. Flagler Street, S.W. 47 Avenue and S.W. 57 Avenue. Specifically the City will install an exfiltration trench (french drains), storm sewer pipe for gravity conveyance, new connections to existing outfalls, manholes, catch basins, cross drains, and perform surface restoration. 2) The Kinloch Storm Sewer Improvements consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by S.W. 8 Street, N.W. 7 Street, S.W./N.W. 42 Avenue and S.W./N.W. 47 Avenue. The improvements include the installation of an exfiltration trench (french drains), storm sewer pipe for gravity conveyance, a new connection to an existing outfall, weirs, baffles, manholes, catch basins, cross drains, swale trenches and surface restoration. 3) The San Marco Island Drainage Improvements consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in local streets within San Marco Island and Biscayne Island in the City of Miami. The improvements consists of deep gravity drainage wells, storm sewer pipe for gravity conveyance, new connections to existing outfalls, weirs, baffles, manholes, catch basins, cross drains, swale trenches and surface restoration. 4) The North Bayshore Drainage Improvements consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by NE 4 Avenue, N. Bayshore Drive, NE 19 Street and NE 17 Terrace. The project includes the installation of four new deep drainage gravity wells, storm sewer pipe for gravity conveyance, a new connection to an existing outfall, weirs, detention structures, baffles, manholes, catch basins, cross drains, and surface restoration. 5) The Glenroyal Storm Sewers Project will be implemented in 2 phases, Phase I consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by N.W. 7 Street, N.W. 3 Street, N.W. 22 Avenue and N.W. 17 Avenue. ,Phase II consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by W. Flagler Street, N.W.3 Street, N.W. 22 Avenue and N.W. 17 Avenue. The improvements consists of exfiltration trench (french drains), storm sewer pipe for gravity conveyance, a new outfall, pollution control structures, weirs, baffles, manholes, catch basins, cross drains, swale trenches and surface restoration. Note: Storm water from this project discharges to the Lawrence Waterway which is a tributary to the Miami River that leads to Biscayne Bay. 6) The Englewood Storm Sewers Project will be implemented 2 phases. Phase I consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by S.W. 16 Street, S.W. 19 Street, S.W. 27 Avenue and S.W. 32 Avenue., Phase II consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by S.W. 22 Street, S.W. 19 Street, S.W. 27 Avenue and S.W. 32 Avenue. The improvements consists of exfiltration trench (french drains), storm sewer pipe for gravity conveyance, baffles, manholes, catch basins, cross drains, swale trenches and surface restoration. _ This project will provide water quality treatment to stormwater runoff prior to ground water contact through the use of exfiltration trenches and swale trenches. 7) The Northwest Storm Sewers Project will be implemented in 2 phases. Phase I consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by N.W. 71 Street, N.W. 68 Street, N.W. 7 Avenue and N.W. 12 Avenue. The improvements consists of exfiltration trench (french drains), storm sewer pipe for gravity conveyance, baffles, manholes, catch basins, cross drains, swale trenches and surface restoration. Phase II consists of the construction of storm sewer improvements in the area bounded by N.W. 68 Street, N.W. 62 Street, N.W. 7 Avenue and N.W. 12 Avenue. The improvements consists of exfiltration trench (french drains), storm sewer pipe for gravity conveyance, baffles, manholes, catch basins, cross drains, swale trenches and surface restoration. All these project will provide water quality treatment to stormwater runoff prior to ground water contact through the use of exfiltration trenches and swale trenches. _This water quality treatment is mandated by the NPDES permit and required by Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM). In addition, this project will mitigate flood conditions caused from typical storm events resulting in a reduction of flood damage and increase in public safety.

Name of water body: Biscayne Bay (Note: Stormwater from this project discharges to the Lawrence Waterway and then the Miami River which connects to the Biscayne Bay. Note: Biscayne Bay is a SFWMD priority water body

Describe, specifically, how it will reduce loadings, identify anticipated load reductions for total suspended solids, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and other contaminants, and specify the practices that will be used to reduce loadings:
Once the runoff enters the storm drain system, sumps in the storm structures provide for initial collection of sediments along with baffles to retain hydrocarbons. The exfiltration and swale trench systems will provide water quality treatment as well as provides the required water quantity control for the site. Exfiltration trenches are estimated to provide approximately 75% reduction of total suspended solids (TSS), 50% reduction of total nitrogen (TN) and 55% reduction of total phosphorous (TP) from runoff prior to the outfalls. Also, the City maintains five Vactor Trucks and crews that clean, on a rotating schedule, all existing and new exfiltration trenches, as required by the City/s NPDES Permit. This not only removes all accumulated debris and silt but also optimizes operation of the drainage system.
