Project Description: |
The City of North Miami Beach nearly completed the Norwood Water Plant Expansion Project Phase 1, which added 17 million gallons per day (MGD) of water production through state of the art membrane treatment technology. The existing lime softening plant will continue to serve about 15 MGD of finished water. However, the lime softening process needs significant improvements after serving the community for more than 50 years, in order to meet federal, state and local regulatory requirements. The cost of the project is estimated at approximately $1.6 million. The City of North Miami Beach provides potable water to a large portion of northeast Miami-Dade County including North Miami Beach, Sunny Isles, Miami Gardens, Golden Beach and Aventura as well as some unincorporated areas in Miami-Dade. The project will facilitate the treatment system to continue to provide safe and healthy drinking water to customers. |
