Project Description: |
The primary objectives of the Council are fish and wildlife habitat improvement, floating tussock management or removal and sand/sediment removal. The Council also recommends $400,000 for feasibility studies to address restoration issues for four water bodies in Hernando County. |

Is this a project related to a federal or state declared disaster? |
No |
|
Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Excessive aquatic plant growth will be curtailed by removing excessive organic sediment in appropriate areas of all waters in both counties. Native rooted emergent vegetation will reestablish in marsh-lake interface. Improved fish spawning and foraging by fish and wildlife, and navigation will be promoted. Removing sand/sediment and floating tussocks will preclude sediment build-up, improve navigation and maintain water quality. |
