The project will also assist the City to; meet National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II requirements, local Water Quality Initiative goals, and it will reduce flooding and stormwater runoff along Eglin Parkway a FDOT managed highway

Relocate and replace old, failing stormwater piping, and stormwater junction boxes to help eliminate pollutant discharges into Choctawhatchee Bay and River

Describe, specifically, how it will reduce loadings, identify anticipated load reductions for total suspended solids, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and other contaminants, and specify the practices that will be used to reduce loadings:
Through the installation of new stormwater pipes and upgrades planned in the vicinity of the proposed project, pollutants will be reduced. The reduction of pollutants will be achieved through the use of best management practices and observation of state and local stormwater design codes. The practices that will be used specifically are, the removal of deteriorated corrugated metal pipes, which allows leachates such as; nitrogen, phosphorus, total suspended solids to enter the existing stormwater system, and the use of stormwater retention ponds. The actual pollutant load reduction will be determined during the final design phase of the project.
